The level of activity at EMKAYTEE(YMKT) ALA has increased over the years and is expected to continue into the future.
Reasons for this increased activity are many, not the least of which is the runway having been sealed.
YMKT is active 7 days a week with;
Flight training being conducted by multiple organisations,
A commercial helicopter organisation in residence,
Defence aviation utilise YMKT on a regular basis including US Marines,
These are just some of the organisations using YMKT.
The owners and users of YMKT have been concerned that aircraft are transiting the circuit area and the YMKT vicinity without making appropriate calls.
As with all other Non-Towered Aerodromes, please ensure that your pilots use the YMKT discrete frequency of 127.1MHz when “In the Vicinity” of YMKT per CAR 166C
Even though YMKT is adjacent to the Darwin CTA, radio calls per CAR 166C are still required regardless of ATC clearance entering or departing CTA.
